Level VI Train the Trainer – Columbus, OH – April 30-May 2, 2024

This course is for representatives from agencies who are responsible for providing Level VI refresher training to their state’s certified Level VI CVSA-certified inspectors in order for those inspectors to maintain their Level VI CVSA certification.

All Level VI refresher trainers must attend the approved Level VI Train the Trainer Course every two years as noted in CVSA’s Operational Policy 6 – Instructor Certification Criteria. All Level VI refresher trainers must be Level I, Level VI and Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods certified, and have successfully completed an approved instructor development course.

Hazardous Materials Instructor Training Overview – Virtual – April 30, 2024

This virtual course is designed to give the hazardous materials (hazmat) employer the steps used to set up a successful program to train hazmat employees. The course will introduce a step-by-step process and best practices. This course will focus on the hazardous materials training requirements for hazmat employees and will emphasize the responsibility hazmat employers have to comply with the regulations and properly train employees.

The sole intent of this course is to provide knowledge to industry to comply with the hazardous materials training regulations. This course will not result in certifications. The participants of this course will be given a knowledge exam to determine what they have learned throughout the course, and, once completed, all participants will be provided with a certificate of completion and their exam score.

Shipping Lithium Batteries - Fairbanks, AK - May 10, 2024

The use of lithium batteries continues to increase, which means more lithium batteries are being transported in commerce, including initial-use lithium batteries and used batteries for recycling.

This training course will introduce the hazardous materials employee instructor to:

Types of lithium batteries and common uses
Lithium battery chemistry and safety
Lithium battery classification in §173.185, including exceptions
Shipping papers, when required
Marking, labeling and placarding
Emergency response and incident investigation
Undeclared lithium battery shipments

The course also includes case studies that will show the participant examples of lithium batteries and the step-by-step process to use when shipping lithium batteries.

Level VI Certification Course - Golden, CO - May 20-23, 2024

If you are a CVSA-certified inspector interested in becoming certified to conduct Level VI Inspections, CVSA is offering a four-day Level VI Inspection Certification Course.

A Level VI Inspection is a strict inspection standard that must be met for shipments of spent nuclear fuel, high-level radioactive waste and transuranic waste. Only commercial motor vehicle law enforcement personnel specially trained and certified by CVSA may conduct Level VI Inspections.

Students who attend and complete the course and pass the final exam with a score of 90% or above will receive a Level VI Certificate of Proficiency and will be certified and permitted to conduct Level VI Inspections.
